Famine & Food Markets Crisis Continues

Open Doors has reported that as a result of the continued famine, food markets have opened up but heavy restrictions and regulations have been placed upon them. No woman under the age of 49 can operate a market, leaving many to have their elderly female relatives work them. Markets are now only able to operate one day a week, greatly restricting the ability to both buy and sell. Prices of food has in North Korea have tripled, children are even seen begging now in the streets of surburban Pyongyang. Three quarters of North Korean families have decreased their food intake. Medical ailments associated with malnutrition have greatly increased.

On a positive note, Open Doors has increased their food donations and are supplying to more North Korean families than ever... 60,000 in 2008. The World Food Organization has also increased their food delivery production for North Koreans and are monitoring the situation.

Please pray for the people of North Korea, that God will sustain them and provide for them and ease the burdens of those who have been helplessly watching their precious children and family members suffer from malnutrition and starvation. Let God's will be done, and may He change the hearts of those who lead this nation and move them with strong compassion for their own people.

North Korean Freedom Week

This Week is North Korea Freedom Week

Open Door Prayer and Intercession Schedule...

I will be updating this daily and adding my own prayer suggestions for those areas that Open Doors is highlighting on that specific day

Sunday

* Asylum

Please pray for safety and protection of those North Koreans already having escaped out of North Korea , that they will be received safely into other countries and not be repatriated back to North Korea. Pray that these refugees receive political asylum and protection in these countries that are their new home and refuge.. Please Intercede that recent efforts by advocates for North Koreans freedom will lead China to fully honor their responsibilities of acting as signatory of the UN protocol - and that China will not restrict access to these refuguess by the agencies and individuals who seek to further help them.

Saturday

* Underground Railroad

Please pray for safety, protection and God's blessing upon those running and assisting the efforts of the underground railroad and that others be led to join them in their noble and bold efforts to assist North Koreans wh are seeking escape from the North Korea regime and asylum in other countries. May any plan and scheme of the enemy to uncover and derail these good works be made null and void.

In Jesus name. I pray.

Friday

* Refugees

Please pray for God's shelter and strong hand of protection and blessing upon those seeking to escape from North Korea, and those who may already have escaped to China but are hiding out , that those in China not be led to desperation and forced into slavery and prostitution, that all will be well with their souls and that God's will shall be manifest in their lives.

Thursday

* Religious Persecution

Please pray for deep spiritual peace and the boldness of the Holy Spirit for believers in North Korea, for them to hold fast to their faith in the midst of the worst possible persecution. Give them hearts like the first century Apostles and the ability to face this darkness with the confidence and security that can only be found through faith in God. May many more hearts be opened to the truth and the message of the gospel, and be moved to take the great leap of faith, trusting God with their very lives, to take them through this journey with Him always by their sides, in the midst of and through any and all perescution.

Wednesday

*Famine

Please pray that food & other aid designated for the starving and needy will truly reach them and not remain in the hands of those in government and the military. May God's heart move them (those in government) to do the righteous thing in these distribution efforts. Pray that God will provide each and every North Korean physical sustenance for their bodies, daily bread and true manna from heaven .. and for God to continuously feed their souls and spirits through the work of His Holy Spirit.

Tuesday

* Prisoners

Please pray for God's hand on the lives of those who are imprisoned unjustly, that the presence of God's Holy Spirit will be ever present and manifest upon those suffering in labor camps and give them comfort, strength and boldness. Pray for the loved ones of those imprisoned and that advocacy will raise an even greater awareness in the rest of the world of North Korea's on-going human rights violations and atrocities against it's people..

Monday

* Leadership within North Korea

Pray that all satan's strongholds over this government be abolished, that idolatry of the nations leaders will end, the political and spiritual brainwashing of the people will stop and that all in government will come to know the true God, and accept Jesus Christ as Saviour.

North Korean Freedom Week April 22-29 2007

Open Doors joins once again with the North Korea Freedom Coalition for this years North Korean freedom week which is scheduled for April 22-29th 2007. Continuing to focus on raising awareness and advocacy for the North Korean people which include the most persecuted group of Christians in the world, the issue of China's continued policy of forced repatriation ofNorth Korean refugees is one of the key issues.

Some quotes from the article follow...

NORTH KOREA FREEDOM WEEK
April 22-29, 2007
You Can Help Save North Korean Refugees!

North Korea is a deadly place for followers of Jesus Christ. As one North Korean said, "People who believe in Christ are shot and executed.”
That’s why Open Doors USA is again joining forces with the North Korea Freedom Coalition (NKFC) to participate in North Korea Freedom Week (NKFW). Our goal is to support and strengthen Christians and help bring true freedom to all North Koreans....''

"North Korea could be compared to one large concentration camp with the entire population trapped in a nightmare that doesn’t end,” adds Moeller. “I urge you to get involved. These are our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being tortured, imprisoned and killed.”

North Korea Freedom Week includes events such as Congressional hearings, press conferences, and an international protest. Together we will raise awareness of the egregious human rights abuses of the North Korean government…including the complete lack of religious freedom.

Praying for North Korea [US Prayer team]

A number of months ago I joined the Open Doors prayer campaign for North Korea because I had a burden for this nation beforehand... this was before all the political and military issues surfaced.

I believe that this surgence of activity is a result of the stirring up spiritually of this nation and also that this nation is key in the end times prophecy, as is China...

I think this is a good time to remind people about this three year ongoing prayer campaign, and especially with the recent events and the role this nation is playing worldwide, perhaps some of you may be called to also join at this time.. I am not sure if people outside the US are able to join because Open doors is US based and the time slots are based by state, but you can check...

Here is the link

If you can not or are not led to join the team, you can still hold up the team 'prayers' in your prayers!

Global Week of Prayer for North Korea
By Jeremy Reynalds
Special Correspondent for ASSIST News Service
SURREY, ENGLAND (ANS) --

There will be a Global Week of Prayer for North Korea, organized by British-based human rights organization Christian Solidarity Worldwide and partner agencies worldwide.

The week of prayer, running from June 19-25, will include prayer and protest against the human rights violations occurring in North Korea.

According to a news release from Christian Solidarity worldwide (CSW), the persecution of Christians in North Korea may be the worst anywhere in the world.

Despite the secrecy surrounding the country, information on the oppression, statewide enforced idolatry and brutal persecution of the Christians has become increasingly available in recent years. CSW reported that China refuses to acknowledge the existence of North Korean refugees within its territory. In addition, refugees found by the Chinese authorities are returned to North Korea where they face torture and sometimes death.

The Global Week of Prayer for North Korea is supported by agencies internationally. Prayer events are planned in various countries during the week to highlight the severe repression of religious and other freedoms. Amongst the events planned are daily vigils outside the Chinese Embassy in Seoul, South Korea, organized by Christian Social Responsibility. These will be complemented by vigils held in capital cities worldwide during the week.

The prayer events planned for the week, CSW stated, are accompanied by advocacy and aid. Petitions, facilities to donate to aid work in North Korea and extensive resources to facilitate prayer can be found at http://www.prayfornorthkorea.org/, or http://www.prayfornorthkorea.net/ in Korean.

In London, CSW reported the agency is encouraging people to join the protest outside the Chinese Embassy on June 22 at 3.45 p.m GMT. CSW's Chief Executive, Mervyn Thomas, said in a news release, “We encourage all Christians and Churches to take up this call to prayer during the Global Week of Prayer for North Korea, and especially on Sunday 25th June, the anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War. We are anxious that the horrific suffering and darkness overshadowing the people of North Korea should finally be demolished."CSW is a human rights organization focusing on religious freedom and working on behalf of those persecuted for their Christian beliefs.
